How to make a picture fit on shutterfly?

Select any photo, text box, or embellishment, then click and drag any of the handles (which look like little boxes) that appear around it. Dragging from the corners resizes while maintaining the aspect ratio of your photo.
If you do a little math, you'll see that your camera is making image files that are in 4 by 3 aspect ratio, regardless of the resolution. This means they have to be cropped to print out in one of the standard sizes (6X4, 7X5, etc.).

Go to the Layouts tab on your palette and click on a layout tile to add it to your selected page. Layouts are categorized by the number of photos displayed. If you want to use a different number of pictures on the page than the current layout allows, click the numbers just above the palette to see more layout options.
While other vendors have continued to implement the fluid technology changes, Shutterfly has not been so fast to integrate these new features into their existing options. The only way to print photos without cropping is to keep the photos within the correct aspect ratio. So if your camera took the photos in an aspect ratio of 3:2, then you would need to print them in the same ratio (so either 6"x4" or 12"x8"/ 10x15 cm or 20x30 cm).

Divide the length of the photo in pixels, by the size you want to print it in in inches to find the ppi. For example, if you have a photograph that is 1800 pixels x 1200 pixels you can print it at 6” x 4” and have a high quality print as you'll be printing at 300ppi.
